John Truby Interview June 1, 2007

I came across this interview with John Truby from another blog. I thought I would post it here since it touches upon some of the things I covered in my 22 Steps of Spam rant (which is always the most visited page on this blog), namely his idea that the 3rd act structure makes good writers do bad scripts.
It also covers some other aspects of his theories, including his idea that genre is important, which I must admit I’m keen to hear more about since I’m a big fan of Phil Parker’s theories on genre.
In other John Truby news, he appears to have finally gotten around to writing a book based on his theories. It’s out later this year. Unfortunately its hardback with a price to match. The title is a bit misleading if you ask me, “22 Steps to Becoming a Master Storyteller”, but I guess that’s diet selling for ya
(see rant for what that means)

James, thanks for dropping by and for the trackback!
It was a good little interview so I am glad I found it.
I’ll be interested to check out Truby’s book when it comes out.
