blockbusterPeople are always shocked and awed by the number of films I’ve got queued up on my Blockbuster rental service so I thought I’d share it here.

As it stands today I’ve got 874 films in my list. Add that to the 473 Blockbuster has already mailed me so far, that gives a grand total of 1347 films I have selected in total

That might sound a lot but I’ve been using the service 4.5 years so its not like I sat down one evening and added hundreds of films in one sitting, I’ve slowly but surely just added every interesting film I’ve come across during that entire period of time and that’s what it has come out to.

The problem is not really the amount I add, but more the amount of those I get round to watching.

Do the math and you find I have watched a bunch less films than some movie fans, only about 1 DVD every 3.5 days on average, or 2 a week. That’s hardly anything. Though I do make a point of watching DVD commentaries before I send the disk back so that takes up more time. Even so, I think I’m gonna have to start watching more films if I’m ever gonna make headway on the remaining 874. Especially since every week new films come out to cancel out my progress.

The one downside of having such a big list is Blockbuster clearly isn’t designed for it because there’s no way to skip to the last page of your films. If I wanna get to the 87th page to move a newly released DVD up nearer the front of the line it is a bitch to get there. I have to cheat my way there using this convoluted method which is still faster than clicking ‘next page’ a bunch of times!

I guess that’s the price you pay for having a stupidly long list.

At the moment top of the list happens to be West Side Story, 874th is Transporter 3. Last thing I watched was Harry Potter And The Prisoner of Azkaban.
